Will we be seeing CrossFit used in this season of The Biggest Loser? Well it looks like head trainer Bob Harpe (pictured) has recently become obsessed with CrossFit, so there’s a big possibility we’ll see plenty of familiar workouts in this season’s hit show which started January 3rd. Here are three sources that confirm these suspicions….
MyAthleticLife.com: CrossFit – The Biggest Loser or the Biggest Winner in 2012 by TIM HUNTLEY
Without a doubt, CrossFit has been on a tear. In less than a decade, over 2500 gyms have been certified and affiliated with CrossFit, and the number of people who participate in CrossFit workouts is on the order of 500,000.
The prize money for the first CF Games in 2007 was $500 compared to the staggering $250,000 for the top male and female finishers at the 2011 Games – Thank you Reebok (source – Social WOD)
But what will the future bring? Can CrossFit continue to attract new gyms and will those gyms be able to grow as profitable businesses?
One interesting twist will be to see what the combination of CrossFit and The Biggest Loser provides.
What am I talking about? Check out this series of tweets about CrossFit and The Biggest Loser from trainer Bob Harper:

What is your favorite way to exercise?
I have become obsessed with Crossfit. It is my favorite way to work out. It just makes so much sense to me and it also challenges me more than I have ever been challenged before. My hands, on the other hand, really have suffered!!!
Which workout gives you and/or your clients the best results for building strength and burning fat?
When it comes to building strength and burning fat, that is the foundation of Crossfit. You have got to find time for strength training AND get your cardio in to get the fat off and Crossfit really does combine those two things.
What workout/exercise do you think more people should be doing?
Haha…I feel like a broken record but CROSSFIT!! Also I would encourage people to try something new when it pertains to working out. If you have never tried yoga or spin classes, jump into a class the next time it fits in yours schedule. It is all about trying different things.
What’s your best piece of advice for someone just starting out with exercise?
Don’t bite off more than you can chew. Make one smart choice everyday and let that start to create a habit.
What’s the toughest workout you’ve ever done?
Easy….there is a workout in Crossfit called, FRAN and also SANTIAGO. The worst workouts I have ever done in my life!!!

PhillyBurbs.com: “The Biggest Loser” meets CrossFit: Season 12′s Courtney thinks it’s a perfect fit by Jen Wielgus
Bob Harper wasn’t Courtney Rainville’s trainer on “The Biggest Loser,” but the two became kindred spirits, in a way. Bob found out Courtney shared his passion for CrossFit and sought her out at the Season 12 marathon to compare notes.
“He said, ‘Oh, I hear you’re into CrossFit,’ and I was like, ‘Yes! I’m obsessed with it!’” recalls Courtney, who was voted off the ranch after five weeks and immediately joined CrossFit Forever Strong in Chandler, Ariz., to train for the marathon and the finale. “He said, ‘Me too!’ And he was definitely impressed with the fact I was doing CrossFit and eating Paleo.
“At the finale, he was like, ‘How’s my little CrossFitter doing? We need to do a workout together.’ And he mentioned how he wanted to incorporate a lot more CrossFit into his workouts on the show.”
Bob’s been as as good as his word, and the biggest buzz surrounding Season 13 of “The Biggest Loser,” which premiered Tuesday, has centered around its connection to CrossFit.
Astute viewers spotted contestants executing wall balls and swinging kettlebells during the premiere. Judging by still photos of next week’s episode, sled pulls, tire flips and maybe even some rope climbs are fixing to come out of Bob’s hopper.
Courtney, 25, is back in Arizona now, watching her worlds collide on TV. And she couldn’t be more excited.
She knows firsthand that CrossFit, despite its mainstream reputation for being freakishly intense — most folks judge it by what they’ve seen on recent CrossFit Games broadcasts — is an excellent way for people of all weights and body types to get fit and strong and, most importantly, regain their lust for life.
